What to do for the best for your hives in snow?
Provided it snows and melts then nothing at all.
However it it lies and gets sunny then there is a serious risk of losing quantities of bees to chilling.
This happens because the light reflecting off the snow confuses the bees syes and they land on the snow and of course promptly chill to the extent they cannot fly again and so die.
The answer is to shovel some snow loosely over the entrances to keep them in and in due course it will melt and safely let them out to fly.
Heading for an interesting season it seems.
